CLARKS has closed its Galashiels shoe shop which employs nine staff.
The company has decided not to renew the lease at the Gala Water site.
A spokesperson says the closure is “in no way related” to the coronavirus pandemic.
A statement reads: "At Clarks, we continually review all of our stores to ensure that they are the right size and located in the right areas in order to provide the best possible offering and environment to our customers.
"After careful consideration, we have decided to no longer trade at Galashiels."
Decisions have yet to be made about workers’ futures, the company says, with employees currently engaged in talks.
The spokesperson said 13 stores are closing across the UK, including four in Scotland.
