BORDERS care homes have recorded another coronavirus-related death, bringing the care homes toll to 12 since the outbreak began.
New statistics have been published today (Wednesday, June 24) by the National Records of Scotland (NRS).
A 12th care home resident died in the period up to June 21, according to the NRS.
The statistics are concerned with cases where COVID-19 has been mentioned on a death certificate.
No more virus-related deaths have been recorded in hospitals (53) or homes (seven) compared with last week’s update.
The toll in the Borders now stands at 72.
As reported previously, seven deaths were recorded at Eyemouth's Saltgreens Care Home up to June 1.
Borders MP John Lamont recently told a parliamentary committee that an eighth death had happened at the care home.
