PEOPLE should still stay away from GP surgeries if they do not have an appointment, NHS Borders says.

The health board has issued a reminder about the rules during the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement, published at 10.30am on July 4, also calls on people to “respect” staff.

The full statement reads: “Please do not attend your GP surgery without an appointment as access to practice buildings is still restricted.

“If you need to see your GP please phone the surgery.

“If you are asked to attend an appointment please arrive on time, but not early.

“To limit the number of people in our buildings if you arrive early you may be asked to wait outside.

“We realised these necessary measures may be frustrating, however our staff are doing their jobs to keep everyone safe so please respect them.”
