PART of the A68 will be closed from 8pm tonight (Friday).
The stretch between Earlston and the Ravenswood Roundabout will be shut until 6am tomorrow morning – to allow maintenance work to take place.
A spokesperson for Amey, which maintains trunk roads in Scotland, said: "A diversion route for traffic on the A68 will be signposted between Earlston and Bonjedward via the A6105, the A6089 and the A698.
"The A68 will remain open between Bonjedward and Ravenswood Roundabout for traffic heading to and from the A6091.
"The scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, Scottish Borders Council, Borders Buses, Borders General Hospital and Police Scotland.
"These essential works will improve safety and ride quality for road users at this location.
"Transport Scotland and Amey fully recognise the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network, particularly during the COVID-19 outbreak, and it is vital that essential maintenance works are carried out in order to maintain the integrity and safety of these routes."
