A MAN has appeared in court after being charged with attempted robbery at a Galashiels shop.
William Devlin, 28, is alleged to have threatened a shop assistant with a knife in the Premier store on Scott Street on Sunday afternoon (August 2).
Devlin is alleged to have demanded money while wearing a mask, but he left empty-handed.
Devlin, of Howdenbank, Hawick, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with attempted robbery and possession of a pointed article in a public place.
He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
Devlin was remanded in custody and will appear in court again next week.
