That member of staff was told to self-isolate for 14 days and 50 people were identified as being "possible close contacts", the health board confirmed.

A Problem Assessment Group (PAG) met yesterday to bring together representatives from the health board, the prisons service, Health Protection Scotland and East Dunbartonshire Council

The health board's Dr Gillian Penrice, who chaired the PAG said: “All relevant public health measures are in place and myself and our public health team are working with SPS to manage and monitor the situation.”

A spokesman for SPS said: “We are taking appropriate measures to respond to the current situation at Low Moss. We are working with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to ensure that all the required health advice and monitoring measures are in place."
