A FLYTIPPER who dumped garden waste on Fairlie beach has been fined.

A section of shore area in front of Bay Street, near the former Fife boatyard, was targeted, resulting in a complaint via the council's Report it App.

Photos of the mess are shown here.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “An officer from our Environmental Enforcement Team visited the site and following an investigation identified the person responsible for depositing the waste. A fixed penalty notice of £200 was then issued.

“The person responsible has been given an opportunity to make arrangements to remove and dispose of the waste properly to avoid incurring further costs.

“We are scheduled to return to the site this week to confirm that the items have been removed. If not, we will remove them and recover the costs from the individual responsible.”

The dumping was removed as we went to press.
