THE Gallowgate Street market in Largs has been given the all clear to continue amid the latest coronavirus lockdown rules.

The market has been one of the town's success stories in recent months, with plans to expand into Tron Place in the build-up to Christmas.

Chair of Largs Events Ian Murdoch contacted North Ayrshire Council, who gave the market the green light to continue.

He said: "I thought it best to see exactly where we stand and whether the area was appropriate.

"The senior solicitor at the council and Environmental Health is happy right now, but if the guidance changes and no longer complies, we will shut it down immediately.

"We don't let anyone in without a face mask and we run a one way system and remind people to socially distance at all times.

"We have hand gel at the entrance and we do everything in our power to keep everyone safe."

The market runs on Saturdays from 10am-4pm.
