USERS of two new adult gyms on Largs seafront have been urged to clean up their act to help prevent the potential spread of coronavirus.

Councillor Ian Murdoch says that the new outdoor facilities at Cairnie's Quay and Aubery are a great boost to the town.

However he warned that people must keep the equipment clean and safe for all users - and says everyone needs to play their part in this.

Like at an indoor gym where there are cleaning materials, Ian believes it is important that all users remember to take their own precautions before and after use.

He said: "There have been a lot of people using these but I would strongly advise everyone to make sure they clean the equipment.

"I have grave concerns over this and hope by highlighting the issue that everyone remains mindful when using the gym equipment near the shore.

"Everyone should clean it before you use and after use. From a moral perspective it is good practice and encourages a sense of community.

"It only takes a minute to use an anti-bacterial wipe."

The adult gyms have proven to be a popular attraction and there is a third facility due to arrive in the town at the new 122 council housing development in Flatt Road, the former Largs Academy site.

The new facilities were campaigned for by Largs Community Council, with support from North Ayrshire Council, and opened earlier in the summer.
