FOURTEEN new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the Borders over the weekend.

The latest update from Scottish Government was given at 2pm today (Monday, October 19).

On Friday (October 16), 605 positive cases of the virus had been reported in the Borders since March, but the figure has since risen by 14 to 619.

Across Scotland in the last 24 hours, there have been 993 new cases and one death of someone who tested positive in the last 28 days.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 47,708 positive cases in Scotland.

The total number of deaths nationally is now 2,610.

In the Borders, there are five people in hospital with coronanvirus.
