FORTY cases of coronavirus were recorded in the Borders over the weekend.

On Friday (November 13), 841 people had tested positive since March.

But today (Monday), this figure now stands at 881.

The data was released by Scottish Government at 2pm today.

Across Scotland in the last 24 hours, six new deaths have been recorded among people who tested positive in the last 28 days.

This brings Scotland's total number of COVID-19 deaths to 3,086.

Nationally, there have been 717 new cases in the last 24 hours. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said today that this number is lower than most Mondays.

Figures released on a Monday have generally been lower due to some registration facilities being closed over the weekend.

The total number of Scottish cases since March is 82,011.

In the Borders, there are six patients in hospital with COVID-19.
