BORDERS bowler Julie Forrest has won a world championship title with her mixed pairs partner Stewart Anderson.
Competing in the World Indoor Bowls Championships, Forrest and Anderson won the final today (Tuesday, January 19) against Carla Banks and reigning open singles champion Robert Paxton.
Forrest, from Hawick, and compatriot Anderson secured a 2-0 victory at the Potters Resort near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Forrest and Anderson won the first set 8-3, before taking the second 6-5.
Immediately after the match, Forrest told the BBC she was “delighted” to claim her first mixed pairs title at the indoor championships.
“This is the one that has always eluded me, but I’m delighted to win it,” she said, adding: “To actually win the mixed pairs is absolutely brilliant.”
