SIX people in the Borders died last week with coronavirus mentioned on their death certificate, new statistics show.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) published an update yesterday (Wednesday, February 10).

The figures cover the week beginning Monday, February 1.

According to the statistics, there have now been 134 coronavirus-related deaths in the region since last March.

Across Scotland, a total of 374 people died with the virus between February 1 and February 7.

That brings the nationwide toll to 8,726 since the pandemic began.
