A BORDERS man who was involved in a bust-up with his partner while holding a knife and a baseball bat has been ordered to be of good behaviour for the next six months.

Daniel Coward, 28, of Jedburgh, pleaded guilty at the town's sheriff court to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour at a house in Grieve Avenue on August 19 and then assaulting a police officer by kicking him on the body.

A not guilty plea to a third charge of obstructing police officers was accepted by the Crown.

Coward, of Headrig, Jedburgh, admitted acting in an aggressive manner, shouting and swearing and striking household items with a baseball bat, taking possession of a knife and making threats towards the woman.

Sentence was deferred until August 2 for good behaviour and if Coward managed this, the case would be dealt with by a fine or hours of unpaid work.
