NHS Borders says it will start the third wave of its coronavirus vaccination programme next week.
So far, 91 per cent of people eligible in Wave 2 have received a jab, according to the health board, with all people aged 70-79 having been offered a vaccination - as well as the extremely vulnerable.
Today (Friday, February 19), an NHS Borders spokesperson announced that Wave 3 will begin next week and will run until early May.
The people eligible in Wave 3 are:
- All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
- Unpaid carers, including all adult carers and young carers aged 16 to 18
- All those 60 years of age and over
- All those 55 years of age and over
- All those 50 years of age and over
Under Wave 2, people aged over 65 were eligible for vaccination.
A health board spokesperson said: “If you are 65-69 and you haven’t been offered your vaccination yet, please do not worry.
“You will be contacted and vaccinated by February 28. Please do not contact your practice or our booking hub direct unless advised to do so.”
