COLDSTREAM continues to be the area of the Borders with the highest coronavirus case rate.

According to data compiled by Public Health Scotland, between February 17-23, Coldstream and Area – which includes Coldstream, Homebank, Marlfield, and Horndean – recorded a seven-day case rate of 364 per 100,000 population.

In this same period the area reported 10 positive cases of coronavirus.

A further five areas of the Borders have recorded case rates between 50-99 per 100,000, with Cheviot East, St Boswells and Newtown Area, Berwickshire Central, Earlston, Stow and Clovenfords Area, and Tweeddale West all recording seven-day case rates of 65-86 per 100,000.

And each area had three to four positive coronavirus cases in the same week.

Out of the 30 areas in the Borders, a total of 24 have recorded fewer than three cases of COVID-19 in the seven-day period.

This measure means these areas' case rates are 'suppressed', in order to maintain patient confidentiality.

The areas with suppressed case rates include: Tweeddale East Area; Selkirk; Peebles South; Peebles North; Melrose and Tweedbank Area; Lauder and Area; Langlee; Kelso South; Kelso North; Jedburgh; Hawick West End; Hawick North; Hawick Central; Galashiels West; Galashiels South; Galashiels North; Eyemouth; Ettrick Yarrow and Lilliesleaf Area; Duns; Denholm and Hermitage; Chirnside and Area; Cheviot West; Burnfoot; and Berwickshire East.
