SAFETY concerns have been raised about the location of a dog poo bin in Innerleithen.
Scottish Borders Council staff have voiced their concerns regarding access to empty the bin, which is located at the bottom of Caerlee steps.
Community councillor Jackie Couchman told members of Innerleithen Community Council that employees had to park on a dangerous bend in order to empty the bin in its current location.
“It will not be popular, but from a health and safety point of view, it’s an absolute nightmare for them," she said.

“It goes against the grain to sanction removing it because there aren’t that many bins along the railway path, but access is a very real problem for them.”
It was suggested that if the bin were removed, signposting should be erected to let dog-walkers know where the nearest bin is located.
Following complaints of increased dog fouling in the area, the bin at the end of Morningside is to be repositioned on the wide stretch of pavement on Waverley Road, between Morningside and Miller Street.
