THE Borders recorded one coronavirus death last week, the latest figures show.
According to data released today (Thursday, April 8) by the National Records of Scotland (NRS), one person in the region died with coronavirus listed on their death certificate between March 29 and April 4.
This is the first death by this measure in the Borders in two weeks – in the fortnight between March 15-28, no COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the Borders.
This latest death takes the Borders' total for this year to 45 deaths.
Nationally 3,295 people have died with coronavirus on their death certificate so far this year.
The weekly NRS update is normally given on a Wednesday.
