AN MSP has called on people aged 40 and over to get in touch with NHS Borders if they have not yet heard about or received a coronavirus vaccination appointment.

The region's health board is currently in the process of rolling out its vaccination programme.

Emma Harper, an SNP representative for the South Scotland region and also a registered nurse, said: “As a member of the NHS Vaccination Team, I want to encourage everyone aged over 40 who hasn’t yet received, or who hasn’t been contacted by the NHS, to make contact with NHS Borders to ensure your information is up to date and to find out when you can attend for your first and second dose of the vaccine.

“A local email address and phone number have been set up, so it is easy to get in touch: 01896 826 000 or Bordershb@borders.scot.nhs.uk

“Those aged between 18 and 29 in Scotland are now also being asked to register for a vaccine through the NHS Inform website. You can do this on https://register.vacs.nhs.scot/

“The vaccine rollout is now moving at pace and it is so important that everyone eligible for a vaccine takes up their appointment so that we can continue to make progress in reopening the economy and in getting back to doing the things we all love and miss.

“If you get an appointment which doesn’t suit, please get in touch with the team to reschedule it – this minimises vaccine wastage.

“If anyone is experiencing any issues relating to vaccination or other difficulties, I can be contacted at any time.”
