THE Borders has exceeded 3,000 cases of coronavirus as the region recorded more than 40 new cases over the weekend.
According to data released by the Scottish Government today (Monday, June 14) at 2pm, between Friday (June 11) and today, 44 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the region.
On Friday, the total number of cases in the Borders since March 2020 stood at 2,984, however, this has now risen to 3,028.
This time last year the Borders had reported 327 cases of coronavirus.
There remain fewer than five people currently in hospital with the virus in the Borders.
Nationally, there have now been 247,541 cases since the start of the pandemic, and there are 128 people in hospital with the virus.
