TRIBUTES have been paid to a 17-year-old motocross rider who died at a racing event in the Borders on the weekend.
Jude Morris, of Dorset, was pronounced dead at the scene following an “accident” during the British Motocross Championship at Duns on Saturday (August 28).
An Auto Cycle Union (ACU) spokesperson said he “had the potential to be a future adult British champion”.

Race director and chairman of the ACU Motocross Committee, Steve McCauley, said: “An incredibly sad day for everyone. Jude was always smiling and lived for competing in motocross.
“An extremely talented young lad, he was one of the most dedicated and hard-working young riders I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
“At this very sad time our thoughts are with Jude’s parents Mark and Lucy and their family.”

No other riders were involved in the incident, according to the ACU spokesperson.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a one-vehicle crash at Duns Motocross around 11.05am on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
“Emergency services attended and a 17-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.”
