REMEDIAL works to a Peeblesshire play park will cost a five-figure sum if given the go-ahead, a meeting has heard.
Earlier this year, a community councillor said that parents and children were getting covered in “muck” because of poor drainage in Innerleithen's Victoria Park playground – calling it “an absolute bog”.
Last week, elected member Robin Tatler said that major works would be needed to remedy the problems.
The independent representative added: “We’re talking about a substantial project in five figures. What they (officers) are doing is looking into getting it in the capital programme.
“It’s not just drainage; it’s surfacing as well.”
Community councillor Jackie Couchman insisted that the work needs to be done, adding: “It’s the major play park in Innerleithen which is very well used.”
