THE Borders has been issued an amber weather warning for "persistent and heavy rain".
The warning, which was given at 10.55am today (Wednesday, October 27), advises that heavy rainfall could cause flooding and travel disruption, with a potential "risk to life" around deep floodwater.
The amber warning from the Met Office is in place from 9pm tonight until 9am tomorrow (October 28).
According to the Met Office's warning impact matrix this warning has a medium likelihood and medium impact.

Areas of the Borders which are covered by this latest warning include Jedburgh, Hawick and Selkirk.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "A feed of heavy rain will become persistent across southern Scotland from later on Wednesday, lasting overnight and well into Thursday.
"60-80 mm of rainfall will build up quite widely, with peak totals of around 100 mm falling in an 18 hour period.
"The heaviest rain will clear eastwards from mid-morning on Thursday."
