THE Borders recorded three coronavirus-related deaths last week, new data shows.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) published an update on November 3, covering the week October 25-31.

In the week prior to October 25 the region had recorded three deaths where coronavirus was listed on the death certificate.

The total number of deaths in the region stands at 87 this year and 191 since the start of the pandemic.

According to the NRS data, as at October 31 there have been a total of 11,672 deaths registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

And in the last 24 hours the Borders has recorded 72 cases of coronavirus.

According to data released by the Scottish Government today (November 4) at 2pm, there are now 21 people in hospital who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The total number of positive cases in the region since the start of the pandemic now stands at 9,415.

Nationally there have been a total of 653,975 positive coronavirus cases since March last year.
