THE Borders has recorded 66 new cases of coronavirus in the last day, latest figures show.

According to Scottish Government data published at 2pm today (November 18), the Borders has now seen 10,359 cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic.

There are 33 people in the hospital in the Borders with confirmed cases of the virus – four more than yesterday.

Scotland has now recorded 695,877 cases of the virus since March last year, according to the latest data.

The region also recorded three coronavirus-related deaths last week, new data shows.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) published an update on November 17, covering the week November 8-14.

In the week prior to November 8 the region had recorded four deaths where coronavirus was listed on the death certificate.

The total number of deaths in the region stands at 94 this year and 198 since the start of the pandemic.

According to the NRS data, as at November 14 there have been a total of 11,933 deaths registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
