AN ARTIST will show off her new work in West Linton this weekend.

Catriona Taylor is exhibiting her craft based on the Pentland Hills after seeing the landscape through “fresh eyes” during the pandemic.

Those wanting to see her work can attend West Linton Village Centre on Saturday (November 20) between 10am-4pm, and Sunday between 1pm-4pm.

A spokesperson said: “Local artist Catriona Taylor is exhibiting new work based on the Pentland Hills at the West Linton Village Centre.

“Starting with the first lockdown, Catriona went for long walks in the hills and began looking at the landscape through fresh eyes. She continued to rediscover and capture the changing light and patterns through the seasons, including last year’s long snowy winter, and coming up to the second year of the pandemic she began to record the farming life that continues year on year in among the folds and uplands of the hills.”

The spokesperson added: “Some of her more recent drawings and paintings capture a hidden life that many never get to see: the feeding of cattle in winter, lambing and shearing. This exhibition is a celebration of the natural world on her doorstep that the artist continues to engage in more intensely due to the travel restrictions.

“The work has already given lovers of the hills much pleasure on social media platforms, now here is a chance to see the work first hand and to fully appreciate the subtleties of colour and line.”
