AN alcohol thief has been jailed for 30 days at Jedburgh Sheriff Court after requesting no time to pay his fines.
Thirty-nine-year-old Martin Charlotte pleaded guilty to three counts of theft by shoplifting at the Co-op in Jedburgh during the month of June.
On each occasion he stole a bottle of alcohol valued at £14.95.

Charlotte pleaded guilty to a fourth charge of threatening or abusive behaviour in the Co-op on July by acting in an aggressive manner towards staff, shouting and swearing and lunging at a male employee who he challenged to fight.
Charlotte, who gave an address in Jedburgh, received fines totalling £375.
He is currently on remand in connection with another matter and requested no time to pay the fines.
The alternative of 30 days in prison was imposed as a result.
