ARGUABLY Gala Fairydean Rovers’ biggest game of the season takes place on Saturday when League Two Annan Athletic visit Netherdale in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

The winners will go into Monday night’s draw along with the giants of Scottish football – and potentially a huge pay day could be the reward.

Manager Neil Hastings is not underestimating the challenge ahead and is urging fans to create a good atmosphere and cheer the team onto victory.

He told the Border Telegraph: “Saturday will be a huge challenge against a team who perform at a higher level.

"It’s the biggest competition we play in, and we have the chance to reach the fourth round. Crowds have been improving recently and I’m hoping to see the local community turn out in their numbers for this chance to put the town on the football map. I know the players will relish a good atmosphere.”

The pair met last Boxing Day in the same competition and the visitors took the honours with a late goal and Hastings knows the task ahead.

Hastings added: “As a manager I never stop thinking about the next game but I’ve seen Annan a few times and had reports. I know it will be difficult as they have some good individual players. We played them last year and since then they have added quality and depth to their squad. They’ve been playing well and will be looking to get into the play-offs for promotion and are well-placed.”

Tickets cost £10 & £5 – pay at the gate. U16s £1.
