A FORMER Biggar High School pupil has been selected to join the Scotland 7s squad.

Reiss Cullen, 25, has travelled to Malaga to join Scotland’s 7s team on tour.

On his selection, Reiss said: “It was a good feeling. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for my whole career and for it to finally become reality is exciting.”

Reiss also plays for Watsonians in the Super6, and previously played for Biggar.

“He started in S1 at Biggar High School,” said his mum, Jo, “then he played with Biggar from S1 probably to about S6 and then he went to play for Watsonians.”

She added: “He’s had so many knocks back, we’re absolutely chuffed for him.”

Looking ahead to his time with the squad, Reiss said: “I’m looking forward to going away to different locations around the world with a tight group of boys and playing against the best players in the world.”

Scotland have drawn in Pool A in the Malaga leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series. Reiss will play this weekend, before the team moves on to Seville.
