A 20-YEAR-OLD drug dealer has avoided a custodial sentence at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Jack Dawkins, of Chapel Street, Innerleithen, was told he was fortunate new guidelines for the sentencing of young persons and keeping them out of custody had just been introduced as he could well have been imprisoned.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug in Peebles last year.
Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed an alternative sentence of 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed over 18 months and £35 in cash was forfeited following a Crown motion.
