BORDERS Forest Trust is again offering free trees to Borderers to plant across the region.
Following from the success of its Big Tree Giveaway last year – to mark the trust's 25th birthday – the organisation is inviting families, individuals and community groups to apply for trees to be planted around the Borders.
The group hopes that planting the trees will give people the chance to spend time out in the fresh air, help local wildlife and help combat climate change locally.
The trees will come in a variety of pack sizes, ranging from a single tree, to up to 100.
The packs will contain native tree species in biodegradable cardboard tree guards and a stake for each tree.
Application open on February 11 and will close at 5pm on February 28.
There are a limited number of tree pack sizes and the trees are subject to availability.
Borders Forest Trust asks that all trees be collected from Moffat or the central Borders from the week beginning March 7. Further details will be confirmed at a later date.
