THE West Linton community has continued to come together to help support people living through the conflict in Ukraine.
A number of events have been organised in the village to raise money to support people fleeing the ongoing war.
And thanks to two local groups more than £1,000 has been raised.
Heleen Kennedy from the West Linton Village Centre said: "First off was the very well-attended Village Centre Coffee Morning with an abundance of fabulous home baking which raised almost £750.
"Many thanks to everyone who came along and left such generous donations, to our wonderful cake bakers, our hard working and welcoming volunteers, and for the beautiful wreath which still adorns the VC’s front door.
"Added to that a further £227 in cash was collected at Linton Hotspur FC who were also raising funds for Ukraine during their match against North Berwick FC in the afternoon.
"Thank you to everyone at Linton Hotspur."
Last month villagers gathered in Raemartin Square for a candle-lit vigil for Ukraine.
On February 27 the crowds spent time thinking of those affected by the conflict and local church leaders offered prayers.
The coffee morning on March 12 featured homebakes and a floral wreath with blue and yellow flowers – the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
Ms Kennedy added: "In total £975.49 was banked for Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, with money still coming in (currently at £145) through Linton Hotspur’s JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lintonhotspurfc.
"Another day of community togetherness and support for our fellow human beings."
And the community will continue to raise money for Ukraine with an event at West Linton Bowling Club where the band Lazy Horse will hold a benefit gig.
The evening concert on April 2 at 8.30pm (doors open at 8pm) will see Lazy Horse perform a range of classic song covers including songs by Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac.
Tickets for the show cost £5 and are available on the door or in advance at The Knot.
