THE Greenyards will play host to a very special charity match next Friday (April 8 2022).
Some of the great and good of the rugby world are dusting off their boots, some for the first time in a while to join Doddie’s three sons in a 7-a-side charity match.
The match to will see Hamish, Angus and Ben joining the likes of Freddie Tuilagi, Sam Tui`tupau, Iwan Tukalo, Tom Varndell, David Hilton, Gregor Townsend, Fergus Thompson, Scott Lawson, Rob Vickers, Opeta Palapoi, Ally Hogg, Allan Bateman, Bryan Redpath, Rowen Shepherd, Craig Joiner and Adam Roxburgh just to name a few.
The stars will be demonstrating their silky skills under the floodlights while fundraising for my name’5 Doddie Foundation.
The sides are split into ‘legends’ and Melrose ‘originals’
Legends captained by Angus and Ben Weir will include: David Hilton,Fergus Thompson, Scott Lawson, Rob Vickers, Opeta Palapoi, Ally Hogg, Allan Bateman, Aled Brew, Martin Roberts, Freddie Tuilagi, Sam Tui`tupau, Iwan Tukalo, Tom Varndell.
Melrose ‘Originals’ Squad captained by Hamish Weir will include:Bryan Redpath , Rowen Shepherd, Craig Joiner, Adam Roxburgh, Gregor Townsend , Andy Turnbull, Graeme Aitchison, Callum Anderson, Jamie Murray, Scott McCormick & Allan Dodds.
There’s to be a few more ‘surprises’ to be confirmed so keep your eyes peeled.
Kick-off is 7.30pm and tickets are £10. All proceeds will go to the Foundation.
