A BORDERS hotel, spa and golf course has created a partnership with a local rugby team to help build a "positive relationship" with the local community.

The SCHLOSS Roxburghe Hotel in Heiton near Kelso, has partnered with Kelso RFC to share special offers with club members.

New and existing club members will be able to access a range of benefits through the hotel, which both organisations hope will encourage more people to join the club and visit Poynder Park – the home of Kelso RFC.

Bruno De Schuyter, general manager at SCHLOSS Roxburghe, said: "The club is an integral part of the local community and we strongly believe that it is important that we build alliances and partnerships in our region and support each other wherever we can.

"Building up a positive relationship within the local community is incredibly important to SCHLOSS Roxburghe.

"The strength of community lies in the strength of the connections that we have with each other.

"As a large company which will impact the socio-economic climate within our local area, community engagement is paramount."

Benefits on offer to Kelso RFC members include discounts on food and drink at the hotel and golf course, vouchers for a round of golf for two as well as a three course dinner. There are also offers on fishing tuition, green fees and on retail items.

Mr De Schuyter added: "The club will benefit from a range of discounts including food and beverage, green fee, fishing and retail stock from the professional shop.

"The club will also be provided with vouchers enabling them to attract new memberships. SCHLOSS Roxburghe will also be donating prizes for their raffles.

"The current benefits are for this [rugby] season, however it is our intention have a long and positive relationship within the local community."
