TWO Peeblesshire sports stars have had great starts to their 2022 seasons and are thanking their sponsors for their support.

Racing driver Robbie Dalgleish started his new season last week at the JCW Mini Challenge at Donnington Park where he came in fourth place in the third race of the weekend.

Robbie said: "By the time we got to race three the car was feeling perfect and I had some serious pace.

"I was really happy to bring the car home in fourth, it’s my best result in the JCW class to date and I am feeling really confident for Brands Hatch in three weeks time to get on the podium.

"It will also be great to have my sponsors Evolution track side again for the first time this season."

This is the fourth season where Peebles-based Evolution Bottling and Packaging Solutions (BPS) has sponsored Robbie.

Evolution BPS are also supporting young golfer Darren Howie as he joins the professional circuit.

Darren started his golfing season at the Tartan Pro Tour with a round of 68 in the Royal Dornoch Masters.

He took 16th place, ending his final round of 71 which saw him finish one under par and only eight shots behind the winner.

He said: "The step up from amateur golf to professional golf can be a daunting process but having the support from Evolution has made the transition smoother.

"Having their backing has allowed me to concentrate on my playing and development ahead of the season and their continued support will prove invaluable over the course of my season."

Darren will head to Barassie in Ayrshire on Monday (May 2) for the next part of the Tartan Pro Tour.
