THE royal court for this year's Beltane Festival has been announced.

At a ceremony in Peebles last week (May 12) the town found out who the 2022 Beltane Queen and court would be.

The announcement, made outside the Community Centre, saw Peebles Beltane Festival chairman Paul Spence welcome 12-year-old Elena Chrystie to join him.

Elena, who attends Halyrude Primary School, said: "It was a massive surprise, very overwhelming, I'm very happy about it."

She added: "I've got lots of friends that are in it [the Court] which is very good.

"It makes me feel really honoured [to be chosen] and Halyrude hasn't had a Beltane Queen for quite some time so I'm glad I can represent them."
