A CHARITY fundraising rock concert to raise money for two worthy causes is to be held in Peebles.

The event is being organised by Andrew Muir who runs Tetra Acoustics Limited.

A previous show, on behalf of Peebles High School, had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving performers and music fans disappointed.

But now that restrictions have been relaxed, Mr Muir has decided to try again, this time for the UK-meds Ukraine appeal and also for Tweeddale Youth Action.

He said: “The first event was to raise money for the fire-stricken Peebles High School which my son attended. The name Phoenix seemed very apt, so we organised for three young local bands to play to raise money.

“Unfortunately, just a few days before the due date a lockdown was announced, and we had to cancel. The bands involved were so disappointed but there was nothing we could do.

“Anyway, it occurred to me recently that we should do this again except this time for UK-meds Ukraine appeal to supply much needed medical assistance to the war-torn country.

“We also wanted to raise money for a local youth cause so Tweeddale youth action was chosen firstly because it seems such a worthy cause but also they gave the headlining band Geckohead its first gig performed in one of the youth clubs."

The Phoenix Rock Fundraiser will take place at the Burgh Hall, Peebles on Friday June 10 2022. Doors open 7pm and tickets cost £8 in advance via info@terta-acoustics.com or £10 on the door.

The bands playing will be Geckohead, butter, Thursday Underground and Zenith.
