VISITORS to Peeblesshire's botanic gardens can find their zen amongst the flowers this summer as part of a national festival.

Dawyck Botanic Gardens near Stobo will be offering special events starting on Sunday as part of Scotland's Summer Garden Festival.

The festival, organised by Discover Scottish Gardens, offers a range of great activities across a network of almost 100 gardens, parks and estates.

And for those visiting the Peeblesshire botanic gardens there are plenty of activities to join in with this summer.

On Sunday (June 19) and Saturday, June 25, visitors can join yoga sessions surrounded by beech trees before enjoying breakfast in the café.

Then on Wednesday, June 29 there is a guided walk to see the Meconopsis and Azaleas.

And throughout the summer, lasting until November, there is an outdoor sculpture trail.

'Delicate Balance' is a collaboration between Dawyck and local artist Susheila Jamieson. The sculptures explore the strength and fragility of nature.

Hopefully the Borders will be enjoying some summer sunshine this year, but those seeking some shade can join a guided walk through Scrape Glen on July 27 to enjoy the colours of summer in the garden away from the sun.

Inside the Studio at Dawyck visitors can admire the work of Sharon Griggs, whose artwork celebrates the colours found in nature.

The 'Colours of Nature' exhibition is free to view in the Studio as is available until July 24.

Director of Discover Scottish Gardens Dougal Philip, said: "Scotland’s gardens aren’t just packed with beautiful plants and trees, but they are also much-loved social spaces for people of all ages, and the Summer Garden Festival, with activities for everyone, is another way of discovering, exploring and enjoying them."
