THREE budding artists have won a poster competition celebrating Biggar Little Festival.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Biggar Little Festival held a Young Artist competition to design artwork for a festival poster.

More than 300 young people from seven local primary schools submitted entries for the brief of the 'fun and joy' of the festival.

The three competition winners are six-year-old Cameron from Tinto Primary School (P2), Callen, 9, from Libberton Primary School (P5) and Imogen, aged 10, from Black Mount Primary School.

Jennifer Turner, competition coordinator, said: “Mindful of the obvious pressures the teachers have been under recently, we were open to welcome any joyful, colourful art.

"Yet somehow they found time to inspire their pupils to make so many amazing pieces illustrating the music, dance, comedy, theatre and art that Biggar Little Festival is all about.

"We ere all thrilled with the response.”

The winners received their professionally framed posters from The Biggar Gallery at a tea party hosted by Biggar Little Festival chairman James Softley at Biggar's Gillespie Centre.
