MAJOR roadworks are due to start on the A68 near Lauder today.
The work will be undertaken by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland.
It involves carrying out scour repairs on a culvert that passes under the A68 approximately two miles south of Lauder and will take three-weeks to complete.
The A68 will be restricted to a single lane at this location from today Monday 27 June until Sunday July 17 with traffic controlled by temporary traffic lights 24 hours a day.
Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “These repair works are required to safeguard the integrity of the culvert and the road above.
“It is essential for safety that we close one lane of the A68 during the works.
“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.
