A PEEBLES road sign has found fame online after it was shared on social media last week.

The sign, which reads 'Lambs jump up here out of nowhere' was photographed by Edinburgh PhD student Danny Bate.

Sharing the photo on Twitter, he wrote: "I didn't realise until today's walk around Peebles that I could have a favourite road sign."

The image received more than 148,000 likes and was retweeted more than 14,000 times.

The signs were spotted along a road near Kirkton Manor.

Inspired by Danny's photos, others on the social media platform commented with photos of other signs around the world – signs shared include those more a frog crossing in Belgium and 'invisible cows' in Hawaii.

Danny said: "We did a round route yesterday [June 19], along the Tweed and then back over Cademuir Hill.

"We went past three of these signs on the road in Kirkton Manor, south-west of Peebles, just before we left the road to climb the hills.

"This was one highlight of a great day.

"Peebles has turned out to be the most charming place I've ever personally visited in Scotland, so much so that I'm sorry to leave, and also sorry that our primary reason for visiting was that we just liked the name."
