VALE of Leithen are back in action tonight with a difficult trip to face Linlithgow Rose at the MV Commercial Prestonfield Stadium.
Rose drew 1-1 with Blackburn United whilst Vale lost 5-2 to Broxburn Athletic in the opening day fixtures on Saturday.
Mikey Wilson’s men took the lead in the 17th minute with a superb goal from Thomas Penker who fired the ball into the bottom left hand corner from ten yards out.
But the visitors responded 12-minutes later with an equaliser from Gary Brass then took the lead when Darren Downie lobbed Vale’s keeper Dean Beveridge from the edge of the area.
Five minutes before the break Kyle Mitchell found space in the box and fired in an equaliser.
But the visitors responded immediately when Andrew Gillen’s cross found the head of Downie who made no mistake from close range.
Broxburn extended their lead in the 65th minute with a goal from Ross Nimmo from three-yards out and wrapped things up moments later when Craig Henderson won possession in midfield and barged his way through the defence before firing home to seal the victory and three points.
After tonight’s game Vale are at home again in the Qualifying Cup against Bo’ness Utd.
