POLICE in the Scottish Borders have provided more information regarding the theft of six mountain bikes from Galashiels and Innerleithen over last weekend.

Three bikes were stolen from a garage in Craigmyle Gardens, Peel, Galashiels during the early hours of Saturday morning (July 30 2022).

The other three bikes were stolen following a break in to a property in Miller Street, Innerleithen which took place overnight on the same evening.

Officers have also provided detailed descriptions of the bikes and say that their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.30am on Saturday, 30 July, we received a report of bikes being stolen from a garage in Craigmyle Gardens, Peel, Galashiels.

“Two Santa Cruz Heckler MX Electric bikes, coloured black, and one Desert Sand coloured Santa Cruz Hightower bike were taken. The value of the bikes is in the region of £28000.

“In addition, around 10.15am on Saturday, 30 July, we received a report of a break in to a property in Miller Street, Innerleithen.

“A blue coloured Nukeproof Mega mountain bike with 27.5 inch wheels and large frame, a red coloured Orange Five mountain bike with 27.5 inch wheels and a sandy yellow-coloured Santa Cruz Enduro Hightower mountain bike were taken.

“The value of these bikes is around £9200.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
