Scottish Rugby today launched the new home match kit which will be worn during the upcoming 22/23 season by all national and age grade teams, including the women’s squad at the Rugby World Cup in October.

The new 'Home' jersey, in an identical configuration for both the male and female teams, leads with the classic navy blue with a polo shirt collar in the main fabric.

The pattern that defines the new 'Home' jersey of the Scottish national team is in the design present on the sleeves and shoulders which is a rework of the Scotland thistle crest which is applied in embossed graphics.

The neck panel has the same design as the sleeves but adds the Scottish Rugby logo and its iconic #AsOne motto.

The word Scotland is repeated internally on a custom stretch tape on the inside of the playing collar combined with a thistle motif, which give the garment robust durability needed for the rigors of rugby.

The shorts are white with blue side stripes, and the white socks have a blue upper border with a saltire blue horizontal line in the middle.

Embroidered on the chest in white, is the Macron Hero which is now synonymous to the Italian brand and on the heart side of the chest is the Scotland crest.

Another interesting graphic detail is on the back of the jersey recalls the history of Scottish Rugby with an embossed design of the original Scottish Rugby thistle logo with the inscription EST.1873 being the date of the foundation of the Scottish Rugby Union.

The jersey will be worn for the first time by the Scotland Women’s team at the Rugby World Cup with the men’s team wearing it across the Autumn Nations Series 2022.

The men’s range of Scotland shirts includes the authentic match bodyfit shirt together with polyester and cotton replica versions. Female fans have the option of purchasing a replica in both cotton and polyester with a match shirt also to be released in due course. A polyester replica is also available in all junior sizes.

The new Scotland kit is now available for purchase exclusively from the Scottish Rugby Stores at BT Murrayfield Stadium and Queen St, Glasgow as well as online at shop.scottishrugby.org and in the dedicated space for Scottish Rugby on macron.com. It will also be available from all authorised Macron retailers, across the globe from Tuesday, 30 August.

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Commercial Officer Julian Momen said: “Scottish Rugby’s Chief Commercial Officer Julian Momen said: "It’s so exciting again to see eco-friendly fabrics incorporated into our replica and match shirts. The quality of design of our new home kit says much about the strong collaborative relationship we have with Macron.

“Our shirt collar has always been a popular feature of Scotland jerseys in the past and we hope its return will go down well with our supporters. We are looking forward to seeing our fans wearing our striking new shirt in the stands, as well as our players who have an exciting year ahead across all our international teams, not least our women who will be wearing the new designed shirt at our first World Cup since 2010, in October.

"Thanks to everyone involved for getting us to such a great result.”

Macron’s Senior Sports Marketing Manager Ross Cook said: “As a Scotsman and avid rugby fan, every year to be given the honour to be involved in the creative process for a Scottish Rugby range is the highest there is.

"To watch the development of this range, integrating the country’s vast history and rugby tradition whilst ensuring the latest sporting innovation is also embedded, is something special and I think is only possible due to strong working relationship we have with all in Scottish Rugby. I am probably bias but I genuinely think this could be the best one yet.”
