EDDLESTON Horticultural Society’s 2022 Annual Show was held in the village hall on Saturday, September 3.
Organisers said: “There was a degree of pre-show nervousness given that we have had a gap of two years due to COVID, but we need not have worried, as competitors and supporters came out in force, putting on a wonderful display.
“The hotter than usual summer meant that flowering exhibits were down in number, but were more than made up for by an abundance of vegetables and fruit. Likewise the Handicraft, Baking and Preserves sections proved very popular, with a number of new entrants, who have hopefully been encouraged to enter more classes next year. Inevitably the status of Eddleston Primary School was reflected in the low number of entries in the children’s classes, but the junior cake entries certainly demonstrate that we have the next generation of bakers in our midst.
“The show would not be possible without the support of many. A big thank you is due to all those who submitted entries, to the judges for giving so willingly of their time and expertise, and to a wonderful band of committee members and helpers.”
