A MAN who admitted throwing a large bin lid on the Borders Railway while a train was approaching has been placed on a high-tariff structured deferred sentence at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Jack Barrett committed the offence at Stow station, after being asked to leave an Edinburgh-bound train for behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
The 18-year-old, of Woodstock Avenue, Galashiels, also pleaded guilty to pushing and punching a train guard on the head and body; and kicking and punching a ticket machine during the disturbance on April 29.
Barrett pleaded guilty to charges of threatening or abusive behaviour, assault, vandalism and culpable and reckless conduct
Barrett also admitted shouting and swearing and making threats to kill police officers in the Langlee area of Galashiels on May 5.
