A BUILDER from the Borders involved in a bust-up with family members has been fined and ordered to pay compensation at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Twenty-three-year-old Jake Edwards pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing, uttering threats of violence and striking windows and doors at a house in Stirling Street, Galashiels, on September 3 this year.

The court heard he had entered the house intoxicated and started arguing with members of his family and said he was going to kill someone.

Edwards, of Kirkbrae, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £75 each in compensation to members of the family for the abuse he subjected them to.

A £20 Victim Surcharge was also imposed.
