And he will be signing copies of his new book, Peter’s Baking Party: Fun and Tasty Recipes for Future Baking Stars.

The book aims to get budding bakers into the kitchen.

And it aims to impart Peter’s infectious passion for baking, including both savoury and sweet recipes, to children as young as five.

When he won Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off in 2020, the youngest-ever winner of the show at just 20, it was the culmination of a decade of experimentation, enjoyment and perseverance in the kitchen for Peter.

Inspired by the show and by his keen baker mum, Peter had felt the spark of enthusiasm for creating something delicious from scratch to share with family and friends.

Favourite recipes included flapjacks, shortbreads, Coronation slices and Malteser squares.

Peter, who is in the final year of his accounting and finance degree at the University of Edinburgh said: “The aim of the book is to make children excited about baking and the recipes are full of wonderful colours.

“It’s meant to be for those aged 6-13 but there are really no age barriers – 20-plus or 50-plus would be okay.

“I’ve mentioned some equipment in the book but it doesn’t need to be expensive. The most fancy thing is an electric hand mixer.

“For beginners I’d recommend trying the Malteser squares which only take 10 minutes preparation and are delicious.”

Some of Peter’s personal favourites to get little baking stars off and running include his rainbow swirls; carrot patch cupcakes; cookie cake; fluffy pancakes; and lemon and blueberry drizzle.

And for a savoury treat, the sausage roll wreath.

Peter still keeps in touch with others from the popular Channel 4 programme, including judge Prue Leith, who wrote a foreword for the book.

He added: “Prue gave a quote for the front of the book which was amazing and I check in every now and again with Paul (Hollywood) and Matt (Lucas) and keep in touch with the other contestants and we help each other navigate post the Bake Off era.”

Peter’s Baking Party: Fun and Tasty Recipes for Future Baking Stars is published on October 13 in hardback (£20) by Black & White Publishing, part of Bonnier Books UK.
