Defence lawyer Liam Alexander said: “It was an extremely silly incident. He had been at his grandmother’s funeral and had been drinking alcohol and got involved in an argument with his partner which he can’t remember what it was about.”

Sentence was deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until October 16, 2023.
