MELROSE Rugby will welcome Kevin Sinfield to the club on Sunday November 13 for the first stop of the Ultra 7 in 7 marathon challenge and his incredible efforts to raise £777,777. 

To support his efforts in raising funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease, Melrose RFC  have been taking on their own challenge and plan to match Kevin’s 272.72 miles, enabling all members of the rugby club and wider community to take part and contribute to reaching this milestone.

Starting yesterday Sunday November 6 the challenge has been running virtually with all the miles completed added up each day.

As a community, club members aim to average 38.96 miles a day and have set a fundraising target of £2,727.20 to support raising funds for Kevin Sinfields 7in7 and the My Names Doddie Foundation along with additional charities and initiatives that the players and club wishes to support (Well’Rose Mental Health Programme and Movember). 

The virtual challenge will end on Saturday November 12 at 5pm and on Sunday, the club are showing the Scotland Vs New Zealand game in the 1877 Lounge at 2.15pm followed by a Q and A with Kevin at 5.30pm.

This will be a ticketed event priced at £15 and will include food (The Haggis Box) with profits from the tickets sold going towards the challenge fundraising target.

Prizes will be awarded for mileage contribution and social media engagement throughout the week so participants should ensure you log your miles and share your photos, tagging in @melroserugby (Facebook) and @MNDoddie5 (Facebook).
